HeYYou · Bonaire

High-performance sails, handmade on Bonaire.

Freestyle and wave sails, cut and stitched one at a time by PWA World Tour pro Youp Schmit. Handmade in windsurf paradise: Bonaire, in the Caribbean.

The maker

Youp Schmit

Youp has spent his life on the water. Years of riding taught him exactly how a sail should load, twist and release, and off-the-shelf gear never quite matched what he felt underfoot. So he started building his own, and HeYYou grew straight out of that.

Now every sail is shaped and stitched by hand on Bonaire, then taken straight back onto the water and tuned until it feels right. Nothing leaves the bench until it holds up in real Caribbean conditions.

The craft

From a roll of film to a finished rig.

Every HeYYou sail is measured, cut, stitched and tuned by hand on Bonaire. Four steps, no shortcuts.

01 Step one

Design

Measure and panel layout. Youp draws the outline, sets the seams and plots every panel before a blade touches film.

02 Step two

Cut

Monofilm, carbon scrim and neon panels rolled out and cut clean. This is where the Freestyle Limited Edition colours come alive.

03 Step three

Stitch

Long-arm machine, zigzag seams. Panel by panel the sail takes shape, every stitch pulled to the tension a freestyle rig demands.

04 Step four

Tune

Rig it, water-test it at Sorobon. Youp rides every sail before it ships, dialling the trim until it loads and releases exactly right.

Built to compete

One sail,
built by hand.

Measured, cut and stitched on Bonaire, the exact sail Youp competes on. Nothing here is a prototype. It all gets ridden, hard, every single session.
